We offer a half day Nursery program, either in the morning or the afternoon. Hours are 9:00-11:30 am or 1:00-3:30pm.
CIRCLE TIME Circle time is a very important part of the Nursery program. It allows the children to develop and enhance listening skills, and to develop an appreciation of books. It also promotes verbal skills and encourages the development of thinking of co-operative skills.
CREATIVE The children thoroughly enjoy the time they spend doing creative activities. These activities allow the children to develop an awareness of colour, design and texture and increases the childs' ability to concentrate. Creative activities help the children develop self expression and imagination, and enables the child to experiment through process rather than product using a variety of different media. A large part of our creative program is musically based as children learn through music. Three times a week children are visited by our music specialists for a variety of musical programming that encourages singing, dancing and active play.
SENSORY & COGNITIVE Sensory play is very important in helping children explore the environment using his/her senses ie: Touch, sight, smell, taste, hearing, and also allows the children to develop social skills through sharing and co-operation. The children develop their cognitive skills such as classifying, size discrimination, sequencing, colour and number concepts, and very importantly, thinking skills.
DRAMA The children enjoy the time they spend in the Drama Room. It enables them to develop communication skills with their friends and children from other classes. Time spent in the Drama Room also promotes and enhances imaginative skills, and a sense of trust and belonging with the teachers from the other classrooms.
